Halloween 2023. With world events being what they are right now, it certainly seems like a fairly scary time. So you want to forget about all that worrying and strife and head to Bodmin on a Wednesday or Saturday evening in October 2023 for a real uneasy time. And a fun, interesting and unsettling one. During the run-up to Halloween 2023 in Cornwall, join Bodmin Jail‘s Ghost Walk Spooktacular 2023.
Originally built in the late 1700s, Bodmin Jail has been a house of horrors for hundreds of years. Attracting a steady flow of visitors in recent years, the attraction plays up to its grisly nature. So it’s the perfect spot for an engrossing ghost walk.
To take your mind off the worries of day-to-day life, ‘travel with the paranormal guides’ that consider this former jail a home. The site is considered to be pretty darn haunted, so prepare for an insight into the former residents of the prison, as well as the ghosts that may or may not still roam these hallowed grounds.
The 2023 Ghost Walk Spooktacular at Bodmin Jail is described as being both ‘immersive’ and ‘interactive’, plus participants are being ‘dared’ by the venue to ‘experience a Halloween adventure’. We can say no more, though. This experience is, for now, shrouded in mystery…
The walk, claim the team at the jail, also allows you to ‘celebrate the rich heritage of Bodmin’, as well as its ‘surrounding moorland’, while learning about the events that ‘echo through the belly of Bodmin Jail’.
The experience coincides with Halloween in Bodmin. But it’s not the only spine-chilling experience at Bodmin Jail during the Halloween 2023 period. There’s also a Trick or Treat Trail that’s suitable for all ages from 4.30pm to 7pm on both Sunday 22 and Monday 23 October 2023. This gives all sorts of little monsters the chance to embrace the ‘fun of the spooky season’.
And there’s a strictly over-18s-only Victorian Séance on Halloween night with a medium that ‘follows the traditions of the 1800s’. This full séance, says the jail team, has not ‘been conducted on the site for more than 150 years’. Seriously, only join that event (and you best book right now if you’re interested) if you have nerves of steel.
The Bodmin Jail Ghost Walk Spooktacular 2023 takes place between 8.30pm and 10pm every Wednesday and 6.30pm and 8pm every Saturday throughout October 2023, including over the Halloween week and weekend. On the whole, it takes about 90 minutes, with tickets prices being £25 for adults and £15 for children. It’s spooky, of course, so under-18s must be accompanied by an adult. Under-12s are not allowed. Too spooky for them.
