THE OPEN-AIR PENCARROW HOUSE CINDERELLA SHOW TAKES PLACE ON WEDNESDAY 24 AUGUST. WELCOME TO ONE OF THE BEST OUTDOOR THEATRE SHOWS IN CORNWALL THIS SUMMER

Cinderella? In Cornwall? And it’s not Christmas? No, it’s not. It’s the middle of a pretty balmy summer, in fact. On Wednesday 24 August 2022 between 7.30pm and 10.30pm, this famous fairytale takes to an alfresco stage at one of the Duchy’s most beautiful and opulent estate attractions. Cinderella at Pencarrow House is expected to be an evening outdoor treat for all the senses.

Pencarrow House, which is halfway between Wadebridge and Bodmin on the edge of Bodmin Moor, is hardly an unlikely setting for a fantastic fantasy show. So many films, TV shows and dramas have been shot or staged at the Cornish Georgian house, estate and gardens attraction over the years. However, Cinderella out of panto season is nevertheless a unique and welcome addition to the summer programme here.

The team behind the show bills it as an adventure in ‘an enchanted kingdom in a faraway land’ where ‘magical creatures and fairy godmothers come together to tell the best loved of all fairytales’. Expect plenty of ‘song, mirth and joy’ as the audience follows ‘Cinderella’s journey of a lifetime’ to that ever-famous magical ball ‘where nearly anything is possible, especially if it’s before midnight!’

Anyone, young or old, can go along to catch the show under the stars on 24 August in Pencarrow‘s pretty Italian gardens. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own seating, though, as well as a picnic and a blanket as the team behind the show is providing the space and the entertainment only. Some hot and cold drinks are available throughout the event, though. The rest is up to you and your family and friends. Or your dog, actually, as well-behaved pooches are also welcome to share in the magic. The gates open from 6pm, with the show on from 7.30pm. Get there early for a good spot. Don’t be late and turn into a pumpkin.
