ONE OF CORNWALL’S BEST YOUTH ORCHESTRAS IS PLAYING A PACKED PROGRAMME BETWEEN THURSDAY 7 AND SATURDAY 9 SEPTEMBER 2023 IN ST ENDELLION AND LANTEGLOS-BY-CAMELFORD. READ ON FOR DETAILS…

Cornwall is home to some talented young musicians but only the best go out and form a band, group or orchestra. The Endelienta Ensemble has done the latter over the past few years.

This young professional orchestra, described as ‘versatile and musically direct’, is made up of young musicians who are currently studying or who have recently graduated from the London conservatoires. It’s small, it’s compact but it’s also highly talented and well worth catching in action.

The ensemble is ‘showcasing the very best of the chamber orchestra repertoire’ in early September 2023 in St Endellion near Port Isaac and in the parish of Lanteglos-by-Camelford, near Camelford, Bodmin and Tintagel. Rees Webster conducts what the ensemble calls ‘an eclectic programme’ that should ‘uncover some rarely heard gems’ along the way.

Here is a rundown of the ‘2023 Endelienta Ensemble Residency’ concerts:

Thursday 7 September 2023 from 3pm at Lanteglos Church: The church plays host to Onslow’s String Quintet (with double bass), Haydn’s arrangement for flute and string quartet, and chamber gems arranged by Peter Moutoussis.

Friday 8 September 2023 from 7.30pm at St Endellion Church: Enjoy Jean Françaix’s Dixtuor alongside Messiaen’s Interstellar Call and Farrenc’s Nonet.

Saturday 9 September 2023 also from 7.30pm at St Endellion Church: Here’s a treat to round off the series! Copland’s Appalachian Spring, Ruth Crawford Seeger’s Music for Small Orchestra, Mozart’s Quintet for Piano and Winds, and Enescu’s String Octet.

Prepare for some of the best in local live chamber orchestral music ahead of next year’s big annual hitters: the St Endellion Easter Festival 2024 and the St Endellion Summer Festival 2024. Enjoy it all in this magical little corner of the world!
