THE FALMOUTH DISCOVERY PLASTIC-FREE MARKETS 2023 TAKE PLACE ALMOST EVERY FRIDAY FROM 19 MAY 2023. AND THEY’RE ALL PLASTIC-FREE! READ ON FOR DETAILS…

We all want to get rid of plastic, right? It’s filling up our landfills and oceans. It’s killing flora and fauna. But why aren’t there many markets that ditch the plastic and welcome eco-friendly materials and products instead? Well, we can’t answer that question but we can tell you about a regular set of plastic-free markets in Falmouth that start on Friday 19 May 2023.

The Falmouth Discovery Plastic-Free Markets 2023 take place almost every Friday between 10am and 5pm from 19 May at the town’s Discovery Quay (sure, there are a few Fridays in 2023 when it won’t be on so check the official website for those dates). They are organised by the team behind Truro Farmers Market, which has well-established markets on Lemon Quay in Truro on Wednesdays and Saturdays, plus one on The Moor in Falmouth every Tuesday, not to mention the ever-popular Truro Christmas Market each year.

The Falmouth Discovery Plastic-Free Markets 2023 will feature loads of local food and drink producers, as well as skilled artisan craft makers. Organisers say that this market makes for a ‘vibrant, diverse and tasty melting pot of flavours and creativity’ on Falmouth’s quayside each week.

And it’s a market completely free of single use plastic because all of the traders are required to use ‘only biodegradable packaging, glass or offer refills’ where possible. Project leader for the market, Rebecca Ready, says that the decision to go plastic-free was made ‘especially considering the location right by the water in Falmouth‘. She adds that it has also been called ‘Discovery Market’ as it is ‘a great gathering of positive minds and exciting finds each week’, which is ‘right outside the National Maritime Museum, with convenient parking close by’.

So, for a more eco-friendly browsing experience, you can’t go wrong with the Falmouth Discovery Plastic-Free Markets 2023. Shop, eat, enjoy and help the environment all at the same time.
