The Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival 2024 takes place between Friday 14 and Sunday 16 June 2024. Every year, this celebration of sea shanties that coincides with the Falmouth Classics 2024 boat festival is an utter barnstormer.
But for every big festival, there often needs to be a fundraiser. And this takes place at Falmouth Rugby Club off Dracaena Avenue on Saturday 10 February 2024. The 2024 Falmouth Shanty Weekend Spring Fundraiser should be a lively affair. It runs between 7pm and late.
Compered by Betty Stogs, that Cornish woman from folklore who’s also a beer these days, this one-night-only fundraiser features a ‘rousing’ and ‘rollicking’ evening of traditional Cornish songs and sea shanties.
Shanty acts scheduled to perform on the night include the fab Bryher’s Boys alongside the likes of Oll An Gwella, Du Hag Owr, Odds & Sods and, apparently, ‘a brief appearance from Falmouth Shout’.
Alongside the singing groups, also snap up some raffle tickets on the door (cash only!) for the chance to win prizes. The whole event raises money for the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival 2024 and, in turn, for the RNLI.
