GREENMATTHEWS PLAY ST ENDELLION CHURCH NEAR PORT ISAAC ON SATURDAY 20 MAY 2023. THESE UNIQUE STORYTELLING MUSICIANS SHOULD LIGHT UP THE CHURCH WITH THEIR FAST-PACED JOURNEY THROUGH TIME…
More than 600 years of musical history in just 90 minutes? It’s not possible, is it? Well, it is with GreenMatthews, a ‘wandering’ duo who take audiences through time, telling musical stories about history along the way.
Chris Green and Sophie Matthews are bringing their epic ‘GreenMatthews: A Brief History of Music’ show to St Endellion Church near Port Isaac on Saturday 20 May 2023, from 7.30pm. The performance, which begins in the Middle Ages and ends in the 20th century, is fast, fun and fascinating.
Green, who is a regular musician at Shakespeare’s Globe in London, was one of the musicians on BBC’s ‘Poldark’ series. He adapted ‘The Wind in the Willows’ in 2017 for GreenMatthews. Matthews, on the other hand, is one of only a handful of British musicians who plays the baroque musette, a French bagpipe from the 18th century. She boasts a beautifully pure soprano voice.
The setting is always important to a musical show and St Endellion Church provides a unique setting. This is an idyllic church in the Cornish countryside with fabulous acoustics. GreenMatthews follow a regular programme of talented acts at the church over the past year. Get your tickets now for this historical and musical storytelling show that may as well be a metaphorical time machine!
