HARBOTTLE AND JONAS LOOK TO RAISE THE ROOF OF ST ENDELLION CHURCH WITH BEAUTIFUL FOLK MUSIC ON SATURDAY 22 OCTOBER 2022. DON’T MISS OUT ON ONE OF THE BEST SOUTH WEST FOLK BANDS IN THIS UNIQUE SETTING
Cornwall and Devon are proud of their rich folk music heritage. But there are some acts that just grab your heartstrings and give them a good old tug as they serenade you with sweet tunes and gorgeous lyrics, leaving you with an enormous sense of wellbeing. Devon-based folk duo Harbottle and Jonas are indeed sweet and gorgeous. And they will leave you with an enormous sense of wellbeing if you’re there to enjoy their unique gig in St Endellion on Saturday 22 October.
Expect Dave Harbottle and Freya Jonas to fill Cornwall’s Collegiate Church of St Endellion in the parish of St Endellion near Port Isaac with beautiful folk music and elegant harmonious vocals when they rock up and play the serene countryside church, where the St Endellion Easter Festival and St Endellion Summer Festival take place every year, from 7.30pm on the Saturday. Expect an array of instruments like the concertina, harmonium, cittern, acoustic guitar, stomp box and banjo to feature in the concert. And expect vocal harmonies the like you’ve never experienced before as they fill the spiritual space with music.
Harbottle and Jonas are ‘partners in life and music’. The concert organisers say that the duo combines ‘a love of traditional folk with their own original and powerful songwriting’, developing ‘a distinct and compelling signature sound’ along the way. There’s a timeless quality to the duo’s music but also expect a verdant energy in their live performances, with storytelling at the centre of many numbers.
The couple’s last album in 2021 was created with Somerset singer-songwriter Reg Meuross. It’s called ‘Songs of Love & Death’. You couldn’t really get a more fitting venue than a church if the duo perform any tunes off that record. And you won’t know if they do unless you’re there in that pretty church in the heart of the Cornish countryside, so snap up your ticket now…
