HELIFEST 2024 TAKES PLACE AT SCORRIER HOUSE NEAR REDRUTH ON SATURDAY 6 JULY 2024. THE 2023 EVENT WAS SADLY CANCELLED DUE TO AWFUL WEATHER SO THE 2024 SHOW (NOW AT A DIFFERENT LOCATION) SHOULD BE A CRACKER…

We will say it like it is: we hope Helifest 2024 goes ahead. This blue light festival of family fun in Cornwall had an incredible launch in 2022 but it had to be cancelled at the eleventh hour in 2023 due to appalling winds and lashing rain across the Duchy. But, like we say, it’s now time to look forward and hope that the 2024 Helifest in Cornwall repeats the success it enjoyed in 2022.

By the way, Helifest has nothing to do with the Lost Gardens of Heligan. It doesn’t have anything to do with Helston or the Helford River either. It actually takes place at the beautiful Scorrier House near Redruth, which has moved since the 2022 event took place on a large site next to the A389 on the way into Padstow.

The 2024 Helifest takes place between 11am and 8pm on Saturday 6 July 2024. Billed as a ‘blue light family fun festival’, it is all about the emergency services, especially the Duchy’s air ambulance helicopter.

In 2022, the event was packed with visitors who learned so much about the vital work our emergency services do in Cornwall. Expect nothing different in 2024. It is organised by Cornwall Air Ambulance and is all about ‘celebrating Cornwall’s vital blue light services’ while also having plenty of fun with live music on throughout the day and plenty of activities for all the family.

There are lots of chances at the fest to get up close and personal with the Duchy’s frontline services and their hardworking personnel as they showcase their skills and talk to visitors about what they do every day to help keep you safe.

Expect demonstrations throughout the day from Devon and Cornwall Police and Cornwall Fire Service but of course there will be plenty of other important organisations on hand like (obviously) Cornwall Air Ambulance, the Blood Bikes, the RNLI, the Coastguard and even the British Army.

On top of all that, enjoy an array of children’s rides and circus skills workshops. Plus, serenading you throughout the day will be top local artists such as Sambada Cambada, Rachel Watson’s band The Rakels, True Foxes, Lottee Brown, Change the Letter and Cornish singer Josh Curnow.

Headlining the show in 2024 are Cornwall’s finest Tango in the Night, who close the festival with the magical sounds of Fleetwood Mac. And watch out for The Barefoot Bandit too, who are taking local festivals by storm with their fresh, new reggae sound.

All that not enough? Well, expect a fair at Helifest 2024. And awesome food trucks too. And, of course, expect a fun family-orientated environment throughout the day. And, of course, visitors will be able to see Cornwall’s air ambulance helicopter at the festival and meet its dedicated crew.

Plus, here’s an offer: if you’re feeling inspired by seeing the helicopter, then you can even book your own helicopter flight with Adventure 001 who will be present throughout the day. See the official website (click on the ‘Website’ link above) to book or just book on the day so that you and your family or friends can see fantastic aerial views of the site and the surrounding area.

Due to the 2023 cancellation, the 2024 fest will be only the second event of its kind to be hosted by the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust charity, so it is more than just a little special. Helifest 2024: the sky is the limit! Do your bit and have fun. Fingers crossed for good weather…
