KING’S CORONATION EVENTS AND STREET PARTIES IN CORNWALL 2023 ARE TAKING PLACE ACROSS THE DUCHY. HERE IS OUR PICK OF THE BEST CORNWALL CORONATION STREET PARTIES 2023 AND EVENTS YOU JUST DON’T WANT TO MISS…

There are more than just a few parties and events planned for the coronation of King Charles III on Saturday 6 May 2023 (and even more across the bank holiday weekend, in fact). But which are the best Coronation 2023 events in Cornwall to hit up? And what Coronation parties in Cornwall are taking place? Well, here are our recommended events, parties and everything in between:

Fore Street Methodist Church, Fore Street, St Ives: From 7.30pm on Friday 5 May, a free ‘Proms-style Coronation Concert’ takes place at the methodist church. Anyone can go and flags are more than welcome for the big singalong.

The Killacourt public area, The Crescent, Newquay: During the afternoon of Saturday 6 May, The Killacourt shows a live broadcast of the Coronation on a massive screen for anyone who wants to go along. There will also be garden games for kids and picnics encouraged.

Tregenna Castle, St Ives: Between 2pm and 5pm on Saturday 6 May, the castle resort in Trelyon Avenue, Carbis Bay, is offering a ‘truly British celebration’ in the form of tea, sparkling wine, top food and an upbeat pianist tickling the ivories to celebrate the occasion.

Cadgwith Cove Inn, Cadgwith, Lizard Peninsula near Helston: The Coronation is televised at the pub on Saturday 6 May before there’s a ‘Right Royal Quiz Night’ in the evening for anyone who thinks they have the brains.

Widegates Coronation Tea Party, Widegates village green between Looe and Liskeard: On Sunday 7 May, the Morval and Widegates communities join forces on the village green to hold a tea party with free pasties and cakes between 3pm and 5pm. All are invited!

Eden Project Big Lunches: There are ‘Big Lunch‘ events in honour of the Coronation across the Duchy and beyond. For details on what all that’s about, take a look: here.

Cornwall’s coronation street parties: More than 40 street parties in Cornwall will mark the Coronation across the May bank holiday weekend. In reality, expect many more parties, events and gatherings than that in the Duchy but 40 parties were noted in mid-April by Cornwall Council as the organisers for each had registered their events as there would need to be road closures to make them happen.

Here are 11 of those parties that we think will be great events (the times refer to the road closures)…

School Lane, Marazion, 10am-4pm Fri 5 May // Fore Street, Bodmin, from 8am on Sat 6 May // The Green Lane, St Erth, 10am-10pm Sun 7 May // Claremont Road, Redruth, 12midday-11pm Sun 7 May // Dennis Road, Padstow, 6am-12midnight Sun 7 May // Church Road, Madron, 10.30am-9pm Sun 7 May // Harrison Terrace, Truro, 12midday-6pm Sun 7 May // St Anthony Way, Falmouth, 11am-4pm Sun 7 May // Queen Street, Lostwithiel, 11am-9pm Mon 8 May // Mount Lidden Street, Penzance, 10am-9pm Mon 8 May // Lansdowne Road, Falmouth, 10.30am-6pm Mon 8 May 8.

Whatever you’re doing, have a great Coronation weekend in Cornwall!
