LOOKING FOR SOME GOOD LIVE MUSIC IN CORNWALL IN APRIL 2022? CHECK OUT THIS ABRASIVE TREES GIG IN PENRYN…

There’s a lot of incredible live music going on in Cornwall right now but we recommend you get yourself to The Fish Factory Art Space in Penryn, near Falmouth, on Friday 22 April from 8pm to catch one of the most exciting psychedelic-folk post-punk experiences in the South West right now. Abrasive Trees, hailing all the way from Totnes in Devon, bring their glorious experiments in sound to the Cornish crowds, including, we’re sure, many music-loving students from nearby Falmouth University.

BBC Introducing has described Abrasive Trees as ‘stunning’. And post-punk.com has described the five-piece – four musicians and visual artist Jess Wooller – as ‘a transcendent experience of euphoric dissonance’. We describe their work as Aphex Twin meets Cigarettes After Sex meets a new folky psychedelic ingredient borne only in the far reaches of the South West. However you describe them, the Trees are intense, they’re passionate, their lyrics are moving and full of spirit, and they’re set to bring a unique experience to The Fish Factory.

Expect some decent support on the night in this fab multifunctional arts space – which is home to 22 artist work spaces, a gallery, a coffee shop, a multi-use event space and, well, much more besides – that is The Fish Factory. Welcome to a night of trance-inducing live music that should transport you away to a place where the sea is dancing, the moon is smiling and the trees are, well, they’re abrasive.
