THE LOBSTER LOLLOP 2023 STARTS IN PADSTOW AND TAKES ON THE CAMEL TRAIL ON SATURDAY 18 NOVEMBER 2023. JOIN IN THE FUN AND HELP RAISE MONEY FOR THE NATIONAL LOBSTER HATCHERY IN THIS ANNUAL RUN IN CORNWALL…

If a lobster could run, he or she would probably lollop. So it’s fitting that this relaxed November 2023 run is called the Lobster Lollop 2023 as you really can take it at your own pace. And you can bring your dog and go ‘canicross’, should you want to put your best paws forward as you raise cash for Padstow‘s famous National Lobster Hatchery.

The official name of this run, which takes place on Saturday 18 November 2023, is the Purple Gecko Events Lobster Lollop 2023 due to the events company that organises the epic race. It’s actually organised in association with the hatchery and it’s billed as a ‘family event with something for just about everyone’ and a ‘no-pressure trail run out and back along the famous Camel Trail’.

Choose from 2.5km, 5km, 10km and 10-mile options, with each distance’s race time, including the ‘canicross’ options of 5km, 10km or 10 miles, staggered after either 8am (for the longer lollops) or 3pm (for the shorter runs) on the day. There are no cut-off times in any of the categories so it’s a hugely relaxed event where the emphasis is on having fun, getting exercise along the famous Camel Trail and raising cash for the hatchery and any other organisation you want as well.

Registration for each run takes place prior to the start at Padstow Social Club. Make sure you have plenty of time to register and then walk at least 10 minutes to the start line on the Camel Trail. See the official website for more details on that. Each participant receives a special Lobster Lollop 2023 medal which they can later show at the National Lobster Hatchery for free entry.

There are age restrictions. Anyone five years and over can take part in the 2.5km event and it’s eight years old or older for the 5km. You must be 14 years old or over for the 10km and 18 years old or older for the 10-mile lollop. Kids must obviously be accompanied by an adult. And if you’re into ‘canicross’, then you must be 16 years or older to take part along with your dog.

Check out the official website for all the rules, times, details, entry instructions and charity place price points. And then prepare to lollop like you’ve never lolloped before… like lobsters on a Camel Trail!
