THE NATIVE MAKERS COMMUNITY WILL HOLD A MARKET IN LISKEARD LIBRARY ON SATURDAY 28 JUNE 2025 BETWEEN 10AM AND 4PM. SNAP UP PRETTY HANDMADE PRODUCTS FROM ACROSS THE SOUTH WEST AND ENJOY A RAFT OF ACTIVITIES…

Liskeard Library in Barras Street will be home to a special market run by the Native Makers community on Saturday 28 June 2025 between 10am and 4pm. Entry is free and anyone can go along.

Expect the community’s ‘signature blend of beautifully handmade products, family-friendly activities and inspiring local creativity’ on this day that promises to be ‘full of colour, craft and connection, all set against the backdrop of Liskeard Pride’, which itself takes place between 11am and 4pm in the South East Cornwall town.

Family-friendly drop-in activities will include bead bracelet making with Pride-themed colours. There will also be a live calligraphy demonstration by the library’s new ‘resident scribe’.

The Native Makers community has been going for a number of years now. It is dedicated to supporting creative entrepreneurs in the region through its markets, coaching sessions and workshops. Born in Plymouth in 2015, the Native Makers’ markets have become a vital part of the South West’s creative economy, providing a platform for emerging and established makers to sell their work to the public.

This will be the first time that the Native Makers have crossed the Tamar to organise one of their summer markets.

The team are calling for more Cornwall-based creatives to join the market in Liskeard as stallholders. A spokesperson says: “With spaces still available, this is a brilliant opportunity for artists, craftspeople and designer-makers from the region to showcase their work in a welcoming, community-driven space that celebrates thoughtful, quality making. Makers working in ceramics, textiles, illustration, woodwork, jewellery, printmaking and more are encouraged to apply. If you create work with care and passion, Native Makers want to hear from you.”

Previous Native Makers events have featured live demonstrations, talks and hands-on activities, and while the space at Liskeard Library is limited, the ‘same ethos of connection, creativity and community will be at the heart of this market’. It’s also ‘an important chance for makers who might not usually trade in Devon or Plymouth to get involved with an established and supportive network’.

The organisers are also keen to hear from first-time stallholders. To apply for a stall at the market, contact Native Makers directly via Instagram or email francescahawkesworth@realideas.org. If you just want to go along as a customer, then we urge you to do so. Enjoy the best handcrafted products in the region as Liskeard Pride takes over the town for a day of colour and togetherness.
