THE NEWQUAY SESSIONS 2023 TAKE PLACE AT THE KILLACOURT THROUGHOUT JULY AND AUGUST 2023 WEEKENDS. CATCH LOCAL BANDS IN ACTION AS YOU TAKE IN THOSE STUNNING NEWQUAY SEAFRONT VIEWS OVER THE SUMMER…
Newquay is all about the sun, sea, surf, sipping and supping, right? Well, in the summer it’s about the live music too. No, we’re not talking about Boardmasters. We’re talking about the Newquay Sessions 2023, a series of live music performances that are taking place on the bandstand at the Killacourt community space during weekends in July and August 2023.
The team at Newquay Town Council has been behind the performances over past years and it’s no different this year. Members of the council select talented musicians from across Cornwall and sometimes further beyond to take to the stage next to the lush green space at the Killacourt. Plus, it all finishes with a family fun day in September. Check out the official website for details on that.
The whole 2023 Newquay Sessions programme kicks off on Saturday 1 July with the ‘Music On The Killacourt’ concert. This is a full day of live music with an awesome lineup. It starts at 12 midday with an hour with the True Foxes before Joe Hurworth serenades the crowds from 1pm. C-Bone & The Doc play from 2pm and The Qwest rock in from 4pm. The Motown Pirates finish the opening session off between 6.15pm and 8pm.
For the other lineups on following weekends throughout July and August, check out the official website. Follow the ‘website’ link above. Oh, and don;’t forget that to catch these bands is totally and utterly free over the summer!
Expect plenty of children’s entertainment and party games during the Newquay Sessions days too. For instance, there were magic shows and an ‘Imagine Outdoors Workshop’, as well as a silent disco, face painting, loads of fairground rides and a special puppet show by Jules The Ventriloquist in 2022.
The Killacourt is a pretty big community space in Newquay that boasts some incredible sea views and hosts an array of events throughout the year, including Cornwall Pride. It’s a fairly tranquil place, pairing well with the sounds of fun and entertainment during the Newquay Sessions. So, yeah, head on down in 2023 and enjoy the experience over successive weekends during the long, hot summer. Rock on!
