THE OCEAN WORLD FILM FESTIVAL WORLD TOUR 2022 VISITS TRURO’S HALL FOR CORNWALL ON THURSDAY 22 SEPTEMBER. EXPECT THRILLS, SPILLS AND ADVENTURE IN THE BIG BLUE UP ON THE BIG SCREEN IN OUR ONLY CITY

What’s the best film festival in Cornwall? Well, this year it’s the Ocean World Film Festival and it’s splashing into the Hall for Cornwall in Truro from 7.30pm on 22 September 2022. The short film fest, which takes place across the UK between September and February 2023, is billed as a ‘mesmerising ocean adventure’ that’s on its own world tour, bringing a ‘new collection of the world’s best ocean-themed films’ to theatres in a ‘cinematic celebration of the planet’s oceans’.

Expect ‘big wave surfing’ and ‘tiger shark conservation’ up on the big screen at the Hall for Cornwall events venue in Boscawen Street, Truro, and also expect ‘wild seafaring voyages and spectacular footage from beneath the waves’. Also look forward to some superb goodies being handed out if you’re lucky as there’s a free prize giveaway of ocean-related products during the evening. Short films on the bill include ‘Circumnavigate’, a Devon man’s mission to circumnavigate mainland Britain on a stand-up paddleboard, and ‘Tiger Shark King’, a conservationist’s mission to remove fishing hooks from the jaws of apex predators in the Bahamas.

The festival’s world tour, which also visits the Corn Exchange in Exeter on 21 September if you want to head outside of Cornwall to catch it, is working with the world’s biggest diver organisation, PADI, as its presenting partner. The fest originated in Australia many moons ago. It aims to encourage and inspire people across the world to explore, protect and respect the planet’s oceans. Get on down to the Hall for Cornwall if you want to catch the best film festival in Cornwall 2022. Well, the best short film festival, at least…
