ROWAN WILLIAMS HOLDS A POETRY DAY AT ST ENDELLION HALL IN CORNWALL ON SATURDAY 2 DECEMBER 2023. THE FORMER ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY DISCUSSES POETRY WITH VISITORS TO THE HALL BETWEEN 10AM AND 3PM…
Dr Rowan Williams should be familiar to most people as the former Archbishop of Canterbury. But many people may not know that he is also a poet. And lots of peeps will soon know (thanks to this Proper Cornwall event feature!) that the great man is rocking up to St Endellion Hall, which is next door to St Endellion Church near Port Isaac on Saturday 2 December 2023 to talk verses, odes and all things poetry.
‘Dr Rowan Williams: A Century of Poetry’ takes place at the hall between 10am and 3pm on 2 December. It’s £15 a ticket to catch the former Archbishop, who is a distinguished poet in his own right, leading a ‘reflective day’ on poetry. He is expected to discuss the work of some of the poetry masters who he highlighted in his recently published anthology, ‘A Century of Poetry’.
Tea and coffee will be provided to visitors by the church team over the five-hour event. But bring your own lunch, they say. And then enjoy a poetic day in the company of one of the cleverest, most well-respected religious men in Europe. Now that’s poetry!
