THE ROY ORBISON & THE TRAVELING WILBURYS EXPERIENCE TRIBUTE NIGHT 2022 AT THE REGAL CINEMA IN REDRUTH TAKES PLACE ON SATURDAY 15 OCTOBER 2022. THAT’S RIGHT. THIS IS AN AWESOME TRIBUTE NIGHT IN A CINEMA COMPLEX!
Who remembers The Traveling Wilburys? Some of you do. And everyone knows Roy Orbison’s music, right? So, if a tribute act can pull off these inimitable acts, they’d be worth catching in the flesh, yeah? You know where we’re going with this… get yourself down to the Regal Cinema in Redruth from 8pm on Saturday 15 October and witness one of the best tribute nights in Cornwall 2022. Oh and don’t forget to buy your tickets first.
For those who don’t know, The Traveling Wilburys formed in 1988 after George Harrison (no introduction needed) got his pals to perform on a ‘B-side’ track for a forthcoming single. His pals at the time happened to be the aforementioned Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynne of ELO fame, Tom Petty of, well, Tom Petty fame and Bob Dylan (no introduction needed either). On one track, ‘Handle with Care’, possibly the most-stacked-with-musical-geniuses mega-band in history was formed. It only lasted for two years as The Big O’s death at the end of 1988 doomed the project before it had really started but the act was forever etched in the hearts and minds of music fans across the Atlantic.
Due to the sheer talent of the band, no-one has ever dared to form a Traveling Wilburys tribute band but… wait… oh, they have. And they’re damn good. The Traveling Wilburys Experience is an authentic lookalike-soundalike act that not only plays the handful of superb hits that the band put together like ‘End of the Line’ and ‘Wilbury Twist’ but also explores each of the quintet’s solo hits, such as ELO’s ‘Pretty Woman’ and Harrison’s ‘I Got My Mind Set on You’. Obviously, the solo Roy Orbison set is a big deal as it double headlines the show.
The band, which commemorates 32 years since the Wilburys released their first of two albums on Saturday 15 October, is playing Redruth‘s Regal Cinema in Fore Street. That’s right, a live gig in a cinema. Of course, the Regal isn’t just a cinema as it transforms into a chic theatre for shows like this. Prepare to sing and dance in the cinema/theatre aisles for this feel-good celebration of probably the biggest mega-act in history. And, again, remember to buy your tickets first. And handle them with care….
