THERE’S A SEA GLASS COLLAGE WORKSHOP AT BUDOCK VEAN HOTEL NEAR FALMOUTH ON WEDNESDAY 28 JUNE 2023 BETWEEN 10AM AND 12.30PM. LEARN HOW TO CREATE FRAMABLE SEA COLLAGES WITH GLASS AT THIS WORKSHOP…
What’s a sea glass collage? Well, in short, it’s a collage made entirely out of sea glass. In long, that means it’s an artistic collage made out of those tiny remnants of broken glass that you find on a wander across most Cornish beaches. This is glass that has been so washed by the water and waves that it’s been transformed into a colourful array of frosted glass.
Sea glass comes in all shapes, sizes and colours, making for a perfect material to, say, craft jewellery or to create an eye-catching collage. But how do you make such an eye-catching piece of art? Ah, that would be telling. And the only way you’re going to find out is by attending a special sea glass collage workshop at Budock Vean hotel near the Helford Passage in Mawnan Smith, near Falmouth.
The workshop takes place between 10am and 12.30pm on Wednesday 28 June 2023 at the pretty hotel. Spaces are limited so make sure you book your spot now. There’ll be a coffee break during the session and you don’t need to bring anything with you as all the materials are supplied. You also don’t need any prior artistic experience. This workshop caters for all abilities and experience.
The workshop is part of the hotel’s Arts and Craft club which runs regular sessions throughout the year. Local artist Polly Radford leads the workshop. She runs an array of workshops under the SPACE banner and has national experience in helping budding artists to get their creative juices flowing. She is environmentally friendly and focuses on using natural materials to create beautiful works.
Book your place first and then learn an art that uses waste materials from the sea in good company. Broken glass doesn’t have to be left on our beaches. It can be used to decorate your own home. This is a creative skill worth learning.
