THE ROCK ORCHESTRA BY CANDLELIGHT 2025 HEADS TO THE PLYMOUTH PAVILIONS ON TUESDAY 18 FEBRUARY. PREPARE FOR ROCK AND METAL NUMBERS TO BE PLAYED IN DRAMATIC CLASSICAL STYLE BY, WELL, CANDLELIGHT…
Okay, this isn’t technically Cornwall but it’s so close (and so awesome) that we’re including it on our website. We’ve been to see The Rock Orchestra by Candlelight at the Plymouth Pavilions before so we’re recommending the 2025 show to our readers, followers and fans.
On Tuesday 18 February 2025, from 8pm, the orchestra will take the Pavilions audience on a journey through some of the hardest, most melodic and frankly best rock and metal songs from history and will play them in their inimitable classical style with violins, guitars, drums, double basses, cellos, flutes and much more besides.
Plus, all the music is set against a breathtaking backdrop of candles, skulls and all sorts of objets d’art, making for a grand sight that accompanies the songs perfectly in the dark. The costumes are also in equal parts spooky and beautiful. It’s just a tremendous experience from the first riff to the last.
At the time of writing, there were still tickets left for this performance so snap them up now. This Plymouth Pavilions gig is part of a 2025 tour for The Rock Orchestra by Candlelight, which returns to the Millbay venue for this new 90-minute concert that breathes ‘beautifully dark energy into legendary rock and metal’ music from the past 50 years.
A Pavilions spokesman says that ‘this band of 14 classical musicians unleash effortlessly enchanting melodies alongside powerful walls of distortion’. We’re asked to ‘witness the unexpected union of classical music and metal’.
The orchestra — a rotating collective of classical musicians and great vocalists — has mesmerised audiences across the USA and Europe. Expect songs by the likes of Metallica, AC/DC, My Chemical Romance, Guns N’ Roses, Rage Against The Machine, The Cranberries and much more at this fab show in Plymouth in February. Rock on!
