Nothing beats a day at an aquarium. And few aquariums in the UK are better than Bluereef. In fact, there are four Bluereefs in England – one at Hastings, one in Portsmouth, one in Tynemouth and our favourite, the Bluereef Aquarium Newquay.
More than 40 types of underwater creatures are on display at this relaxing watery hotspot, from an array of tropical fish in many of the tanks to plenty of sharks, octopuses, turtles, crocodiles and lobsters – and that’s just for starters (no pun intended). At the heart of the attraction in Cornish north coast town Newquay is a large ocean tank where an underwater walkthrough tunnel offers visitors an incredible up-close-and-personal encounter with the tropical coral reef fish who call the aquarium home.
School groups are popular at the aquarium as there’s so much to learn here in interactive workshops. And then there are interactive talks and feeding demonstrations with the aquarists for all visitors so they can understand more about the importance of all the world’s waters and marine life so we can all do our bit to protect them. Plus, enjoy a host of activities and events for all the family on selected weekends and school holidays throughout the year. We recommend clearing your diary for the day and wandering through this wonderland of watery delights, learning about the vast array of sea creatures who are ready to meet and greet you.
