Who doesn’t love a good adventure? Well, you can enjoy a pretty safe but highly entertaining and enlightening adventure if you go down to Mount Edgcumbe Country Park near Looe, Torpoint and Plymouth between Thursday 25 and Sunday 28 July 2024. That’s because the Armchair Adventure Festival 2024 rolls up once again as it has done during previous years.

The 2024 Armchair Adventure Festival is a unique event for Cornwall, full of talks, activities and inspiration. If you’re a local, this is a fab event in your own backyard. If you’re not, then, welcome to our beautiful corner of the world and prepare for an adventure.

The fest was launched in 2020 as the ‘world’s first 100 percent live virtual adventure festival’. More than 40,000 people joined the virtual talks and activities from the comfort of their own armchairs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, in 2021, the whole extravaganza went up close and in-person. It was enjoyed by many visitors to Mount Edgcumbe Country Park who paddle-boarded with dolphins in Plymouth Sound, listened to inspirational tales of adventure from intrepid speakers and danced it up with the best local bands.

In 2022 and 2023, it all turned up a notch with the 2023 edition being enjoyed by bucketloads of adventure seekers. It was billed in 2023 as ‘the UK’s most adventurous festival’. in 2024, expect four days of ‘inspiring talks and films from the world’s leading adventurers’. Also expect ‘adventurous activities’ like survival workshops, camping, glamping, alpaca walking, coasteering, paddle-boarding, foraging, meditation, mountain biking, fire-lighting and even kayaking and sailing if you pay a little extra.

Traditionally the fest has been campervan-friendly and, of course, there’s always some award-winning food and drink on offer throughout the weekend. Past stars giving talks include inspirational yachtsman Conrad Humphreys, explorer and author Belinda Kirk, and cross-world riders Simon and Lisa Thomas.

Expect plenty of live music at the festival, with past performers including the likes of guitarist Martin Harley, roots ‘n’ surf-folk superstar Tom Dibb and the Andy Quick Band.

All this is set against Mount Edgcumbe‘s stunning vistas with the famous house standing proudly in the background. And all of this can be enjoyed alongside a pint of Armchair Ale as you join adventurers from across the globe at one of Cornwall’s most unique summer events. Prepare for an adventure like no other!
