CORNWALL’S TATTOO CONVENTION 2023 IS AT THE ROYAL CORNWALL SHOWGROUND IN WADEBRIDGE ON SATURDAY 19 AND SUNDAY 20 AUGUST 2023. THIS IS THE BEST TATTOO CONVENTION IN CORNWALL 2023. GET STUCK IN HERE…

Tattoos have been around in Cornwall for centuries, not least due to the association with pirates and sailors. But it is isn’t often you come across a delicious celebration of needles and body art in the Duchy. Well, the Cornwall Tattoo Convention 2023 is just that. A colourful celebration of beautiful painting on beautiful people’s skin.

Billed as an ‘explosion of art, music and alternative performing arts’, Cornwall’s Tattoo Convention 2023 is a feast for the senses. Held at the Royal Cornwall Showground in Wadebridge on both Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 August 2023, expect live musical shows, art workshops, ‘bizarre creative performances’ and the opportunity to get inked by some of the best tattooists in Cornwall, the UK and the world.

This will be the fifth tattoo convention at the showground. Last year’s theme was ‘armageddon’ but this year the theme is ‘The Asylum’. Visitors are encouraged to ‘dress appropriately’. We’re guessing there’ll be more than just a couple of straight jackets being fashionable sported by the hundreds of people who will grace this colourful event…

More than 300 tattoo artists will be on hand to meet visitors, talk through designs and do the inking themselves. It’s recommended that visitors book in with their favourite inker early in the morning, though, to make sure they get the tat of their dreams later in the day.

Steam punk and other creative costumes are also encouraged. Body painting is also encouraged. Body painting, unlike a tattoo, is temporary and adds much colour to those who turn up to the convention.

Live bands and acts, tarot readings, crazy performances, trade stands selling unique merchandise and trims from the convention’s resident barbers complete this thoroughly different two-day event in Wadebridge. Head here if you’re not big on painting the town red and prefer to paint yourself all the colours of the rainbow instead. Celebrate tattoos like it’s 2023 in August!
