Who doesn’t love vintage tractors? Who doesn’t love classic cars and motorcycles? Who doesn’t love a good dog show, live music and a few gun-totin’ Wild West re-enactments? Of course, in Cornwall we generally love all of these things on a day out. And you get them all and much more besides at the Great Trethew Vintage Rally 2023.
The 2023 Great Trethew Vintage Rally takes place over the 2023 August bank holiday weekend in Cornwall, namely between Saturday 26 and Monday 28 August 2023. This annual three-day not-for-profit event will be held on a collection of fields at Blackadon Farm in the hamlet of Horningtops, which is about half a mile down the B3251 from the A38’s Lower Clicker junction between Liskeard and Looe.
The event, which is organised entirely by volunteers, raises cash for local organisations, charities and groups. Expect all manner of vintage vehicles and machines on display, including classic cars, motorbikes, tractors, steam engines, stationary engines and horticultural machines. There will be tractor pulling demonstrations, plus military vehicle displays and all sorts of vehicle parades in the main show ring.

A spokesman for the rally says: “There is lots of entertainment in display areas such as a Wild West re-enactment, tractor pulling, working horses, traditional craft demonstrations, a live music stage and even a dog show. We also have a dedicated children’s area with face painters, children’s entertainers and vintage fairground attractions.
“Trade stands and a craft marquee,” continues the spokesman, “will be selling a variety of items from bric-a-brac to clothing and hand-crafted must-haves. There are refreshments, caterers and a licensed bar on site with live music on the Saturday and Sunday evenings.”
