Or are you looking to stand in a safe place by the side of one of the winding roads in Cornwall’s ‘Wild West‘ and cheer on up to 1,000 cyclists as they speed past on their journey towards the finishing line? Watch the Land’s End 100 2024 then!

Either way, be part of one of the best cycling races in Cornwall!

The Land’s End 100 Cycle Race (Sportive) has been running from Folly Field, which sits next to the famous St Michael’s Mount off Marazion and near Penzance, since 2010. This 2024 edition is expected to be just as dramatic, challenging and stunning as every other edition as hundreds of cyclists take on the usually fairly quiet roads across the countryside and coastline in this breathtaking corner of the Duchy.

The racers pass Mousehole, St Ives, Portreath, Porthleven, Carn Brea Castle, Land’s End and many more iconic towns, villages, attractions and locations on their epic journey.

The race begins and ends at Folly Field on Saturday 14 September 2024. The competitors, who are 11 years old or above (although the race is mostly made up of adults), get a choice of three routes to undertake: a 105-mile Long Route, a 72-mile Medium Route or a 46-mile Short Route.

The Long Route, which goes as far north as Portreath and almost as far south as Lizard Point, leaves at 8am. The Medium Route, which also reaches Portreath but loops back around the Carn Brea Castle area, leaves at 8.15am. The Short Route, which loops back on the approach to Hayle, leaves at 8.30am.

All cyclists must be finished by 5pm. There are feed stations along each route but each cyclist must spend no more than 10 minutes at every station. They must also maintain a minimum pace of 13mph throughout their ride. Each route is electronically chip timed and every single participant receives a Gold, Silver, or Bronze medal based on the completion time for their age and gender category.

Fancy your chances? If so, pump up those tyres and prepare for one of the best cycling races in Cornwall. If not, head on down to your designated spot, take a flask of tea and prepare to lose your voice after cheering on each rider. This is what Cornwall is all about: extreme challenges, beautiful scenery and something different at every corner.
