It’s dubbed the ‘friendliest literary festival in the UK’. The Penzance Literary Festival 2024 is set to be a welcoming and fun affair for all, especially as it is in its (lucky for some!) 13th year in July 2024. It should be a pretty star-studded in 2024 too.

The 12th edition of Penzance Litfest 2023 took place in early July 2023 across various venues in Penzance under the official theme of ‘arrival’. The likes of Nina Stibble, Wyl Menmuir and Lucinda Hart were on the bill and the whole fest was heralded as a success.

From a writing workshop with Jenny Kane on the opening Wednesday to a talk with Simon Parker on the closing Saturday night, the 2023 Penzance Litfest was a pretty fascinating event. Highlights included a writing workshop with Greg Mosse on the Saturday afternoon, a chat with Beatles’ hairdresser Leslie Cavendish on the Friday and ‘The Granite Kingdom, A Cornish Journey’ with Tim Hannigan on the Thursday.

When announced, it’s worth checking all of the 2024 Penzance Litfest details on the official website. All you need to do is scroll up to the ‘In Brief’ section, click on the ‘website’ link and check out the official website, where the full programme will await at some stage.

The Penzance Litfest 2023 followed a successful 2022 edition that saw the likes of Keith Kahn-Harris, John Tagholm and Julia Grigg in conversation with visitors to the big event. Expect more fascinating talks and workshops at the 2024 edition of this local festival that celebrates writing, writers and wonderful works.

The Penzance Literary Festival 2024 takes place at an array of venues around the beautiful Cornish town, as happens every summer. The event was founded in 2010 by Penzance author and academic Peter Levin and over the years it has grown into a diverse and fascinating celebration of the wonderful written word.

Sure, it missed a couple of years due to COVID-19 but the 2022 festival was heralded as a successful celebration of writing, literature and the arts. Expect an array of events in 2024 like workshops, readings and talks by all sorts of people including industry experts and published authors from Cornwall and far, far beyond.

Past speakers at the fest include Stonewall Writer of the Year Damian Barr, Somerset Maugham Award holder Alan Hollinghurst and celebrated South West author Liz Shakespeare. Expect a packed programme as you turn over a new leaf and book your place at Penzance Litfest 2024. You read it here first. And enough with those dreadful puns…
