THE SHIPWRECK TREASURE MUSEUM’S TUNNEL OF LIGHTS 2023 IN CHARLESTOWN IS A CHRISTMAS CRACKER! STEP INSIDE A MAGICAL WONDERLAND OF FESTIVE LIGHTS AND WINTER CRAFTS THROUGHOUT DECEMBER 2023…

There’s nowhere in Cornwall that does gold, silver, coins, fun and learning all in one place quite like the Shipwreck Treasure Museum in Charlestown, near St Austell. This attraction is full of more than 8,000 treasures that have been found by divers in the waters all around Cornwall and beyond.

Gold bullion bars, used cannon balls, barrels of coins… you name it, it’s here. Families love spending hours touring the museum and discovering that all that glitters is normally gold here.

But at Christmas, the museum becomes home to a different sort of treasure. A festive lights sort of treasure, in fact. The attraction transforms into ‘the most festive place in Cornwall’.

It becomes the Shipwreck Treasure Museum Christmas 2023 Tunnel of Lights experience on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November 2023 before being open to explore every single day between Friday 1 and Sunday 31 December 2023 except for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

The Tunnel of Lights 2023 experience is aimed at kids and adults who want a magical Christmas experience at one of Cornwall’s best museums. in fact, the museum transforms into what the team behind it call ‘the most magical festive place in Cornwall’. The team says you should ‘wander through the cosy world of Christmas joy’ as the ‘entire Shipwreck Treasure Museum is transformed into the ultimate jolly holiday experience’.

It’s actually the fifth year the attraction has held a Tunnel of Lights experience. This year, there’s a massive snow globe to discover as well as those famous ‘immersive twinkling tunnels covered in hundreds of thousands of luminous lights’. Santa Claus will also visit but anyone wanting to meet him needs to pre-book as that is separate to the Tunnel of Lights.

Thousands of twinkling lights traditionally make up the Tunnel of Lights experience. The visual spectacle in 2022 stretched out over 220m and, if you laid the lights end to end, they would have run for a whopping five-and-a-half miles.

The entire Tunnel of Lights experience runs throughout December 2023. You and your family can enjoy an illuminating festive period at this treasure of a museum attraction on the south coast of Cornwall.
