THE ST ENDELLION EASTER FESTIVAL 2024 IS BETWEEN SATURDAY 30 MARCH AND SUNDAY 7 APRIL 2024 AT THE IDYLLIC ST ENDELLION CHURCH NEAR PORT ISAAC. THIS COULD BE THE BEST 2024 CORNWALL EASTER EVENT OF THEM ALL!
If beautiful music being performed inside a beautiful church inspires you then you’ve got to experience at least one live concert during the week-long St Endellion Easter Festival 2024 which celebrates its 51st edition between Saturday 30 March and Sunday 7 April 2024. Welcome Easter into your hearts and ears in the most sublime way possible at one of the best Easter events in Cornwall 2024.
An array of live concerts take place inside Cornwall’s Collegiate Church of St Endellion in the parish of St Endellion near Port Isaac over the days around Easter Sunday in March and April 2024. The festival will feature, as it always does, much ‘delicious chamber music, meditative candlelit moments and choral Evensong and Eucharist’, as well as much more in and around the parish.
Highlights include a chance to work with Easter festival singers on ‘Fauré’s Requiem’ between 10am and 1pm on Saturday 30 March 2024 before an informal performance is given inside the church at 2pm for anyone who wants to go along to watch and listen. There’s also a ‘choral evensong’ at the church at 4.30pm on Sunday 31 March 2024 (Easter Sunday!) before an epic chamber music concert from 7.30pm.
Other events to catch over the week include a ‘late-night candlelit concert’ at 10.15pm on Tuesday 2 April 2024, a ‘choral and orchestral concert’ featuring works by Bach, Hadyn and Mozart from 7.30pm on Wednesday 3 April 2024, another ‘choral and orchestral concert’ this time featuring works solely by Brahms at 7.30pm on Saturday 6 April 2024 and the all-important closing concert at 4pm on Sunday 7 April 2024, which itself follows a ‘festival Eucharist’ at 11am.
The Easter festival celebrated its milestone 50th edition in April 2023. Organised by St Endellion Festivals, a group that’s run independently from the church, the fest was cream-and-jam-packed with incredible concerts and moments to mark the half-century anniversary.
Highlights in 2023 included two performances of Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius and another of Sibelius’ enthralling Fifth Symphony. Other highlights included a world premiere, Thy Presence, My Light, by composer Rhiannon Randle and a generous smattering of intimate chamber music concerts.
Thwere are plenty more concerts throughout the week in 2024, so head to official website and download this year’s brochure for all the shows and activities. Expect a Thought for the Day every morning between the Monday and Friday at 9am inside the church too. Prepare for an Easter musical experience like no other in Cornwall. A highly uplifting experience, whichever concert you’re able to catch.
