THE ST IVES SHANTY SHOUT 2024 TAKES PLACE ON FRIDAY 22 AND SATURDAY 23 NOVEMBER 2024 IN PUBS, HOTELS AND COFFEE SHOPS IN THE SEASIDE TOWN. TUNE UP THAT VOICE AND JOIN IN WITH THIS HARMONIOUS CORNISH FESTIVAL…

Calling all Wellermen and women, landlubbers and anyone who just loves joining in with beloved sea shanties and Cornish folk songs. The St Ives Shanty Shout 2024 takes place on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 November 2024 in many of the hotels, pubs and cafés across the coastal town that sits in the wild western reaches of the Duchy.

The lineup for the 2024 St Ives Shanty Shout festival is yet to be announced so watch this space for details as and when they are unveiled by the organisers.

In 2023, The Drecklys were one of the big draws, as were Kimber’s Men. Then there were some other top acts like ACapella Moonshine, the Cape Cornwall Singers, The Shantillies, Bryher’s Boys and the Old Gaffers. In all, at least 18 acts took to the stages in venues across the town.

The 2023 shanty festival was hot on the heels of its successful 2022 edition. Prepare for an utter treat for the senses as acts from far and wide entertain the crowds in 2024. The St Ives event, which has blossomed and grown since its first edition in 2016 featured just a handful of groups singing in The Castle Inn, is much-loved by shanty and folk music lovers.

There were seven festival venues all within walking distance of each other at the 2023 shanty shout. The venues were: Café Art at Drill Hall in Chapel Street, Bier Huis Grand Café in St Andrews Street, Harbour View House in Fernlea Terrace, the Pilchard Press in Wharf Road, The Golden Lion in Market Place, The Western Hotel in Gabriel Street and The Queen’s Hotel in High Street. Check out the official website for the 2024 programme when it is unveiled in 2024.

The gigs traditionally take place between 7pm and 10pm on the Friday and 2pm and 11pm on the Saturday (a good handful of acts per venue over that time). Take a look at the official website for all gig times and venues by clicking the ‘Website’ link above.

The shanty fest in St Ives in 2023 supported the Friends of the Edward Hain Centre, which supports health and wellbeing in the town. We will wait to see what worthy cause is supported in 2024. So make sure you head on over to St Ives for some sea shanties, some loud singing and a whole lotta fun on 22 and 23 November 2024.
