Miranda Sykes is a folk singer, double-bassist and guitarist who has performed with acoustic roots-folk group Show of Hands. Hannah Martin is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has played with the likes of the Gigspanner Big Band, Edgelarks and Saltlines.
Together they are SykesMartin and they play St Endellion Church near Port Isaac on Saturday 23 March 2024 from 7.30pm. It’s £12 a ticket and free for under-16s who are accompanied by an adult. The gig is organised by Endelienta Arts.
SykesMartin is actually a new collaboration from ‘two of the UK’s finest folk singers.’ Expect plenty of double bass, banjo, fiddle and guitar music alongside fine vocal arrangements from the talented duo. They may become one of the best all-female folk duos to play Cornwall.
The two musicians take ‘their deep knowledge of roots music’ and add ‘a contemporary twist’. Look forward to moving ballads and rousing chorus songs, as well as plenty of stories told through the fine folk music. The intimate setting of the church should be just right for this beautiful duo.
