Trethevy Halloween 2024. Be there and be scared. Welcome to the most frightening Halloween display in Cornwall 2024. Held on private land at Trethevy, postcode PL34 0BE, this free-to-see display should get the whole family screaming with delight.
The 2024 Trethevy Halloween display will open every night between Monday 21 and Thursday 31 October 2024, 5pm until 9pm, weather permitting, of course. The organisers have told Proper Cornwall that they have ‘already bought a couple of new animatronics for this year’.
The private land is near St Nectan’s Glen, which is just up the B3263 from Tintagel. In fact, due to the private land not being open to car parking, the waterfall attraction is the perfect spot to park up in before a short seven-minute walk to the spooky display.
At the 2023 edition, the organisers raised £3,028.43 for the MS Society thanks to a cracking display. Donations from the 2024 event will go towards a different charity. The event is free but donations to the charity are encouraged.
What’s on display at Trevethy Halloween 2024? Well, expect ghouls and ghosts. Clowns and phantoms. In fact, at the 2023 display, the organisers installed a bunch of spooky animatronic characters. Static props are also used across the site, creating an entire Halloween wonderland for visitors.

The display at Trethevy takes up to six weeks to build. Sadly, it’s weather dependent as some of the animatronics are not waterproof so do check the weather during the 2024 edition before you venture out.
The organisers say that the 2024 display ‘will look different again’ and will be ‘family-friendly towards the front and more gruesome as you delve deeper in, with more jump scares and more animatronics’.
The man behind the display, Chris Davies, talks with Proper Cornwall about what frights were in store. He says: “In 2022, we ran our first big Halloween display in Cornwall to raise money for Dementia UK. We managed to raise an incredible £1,700 by doing the display.”
He adds that in 2023, the team grew the display and added ‘more animatronics and more props’ to ‘raise money for the MS Society, which is the UK’s largest charity for people affected by multiple sclerosis’.
Mr Davies says that the whole display is ‘interactive and done in our front garden, where people are welcome to walk around’. He said: “The display is totally free to attend with the option to donate to the chosen charity via buckets around the display or via our JustGiving page.”
He notes: “In 2022, we generally thought we would only get a handful of people show up but every night we ran it, it was packed out. We change the charity yearly and are always improving the display.”
Thankfully, protecting nurses and doctors against viruses has somewhat improved these days… unless you’re at Halloween at Trethevy!
Mr Davies says that he and his family started the display a few years back when they lived in Cheshire during the height of the Covid pandemic. He says he ‘mainly did it to give people something to smile about and enjoy during the depressing times of Covid’. It caught on and the family moved to Cornwall to help care for an elderly relative. They have continued the blood-curdling tradition here ever since.
“We love Halloween in our house,” he says, “and much prefer it to Christmas. It’s great to see so many people laugh, smile and jump with the odd scream thrown in. It’s all about having fun and spreading the love of Halloween, all for a good cause.”
And soon Mr Davies may not be just inside the Trethevy scare attraction. he says: “We are on the lookout for a building suitable to bring an all-year-round permanent scare attraction business to North Cornwall. It would included a drop floor and air blasters along with other special effects to make it as scary as possible.”
