Ever met a meerkat in person? Here’s your chance. Dairyland Farm Park, on the edge of Newquay and just down the road from Lappa Valley, is a haven for families who want to get up close and personal with nature’s cutest animals.

Lambs, rabbits, guinea pigs, ponies, meerkats – there’s an army of cuddly creatures in this fun park to meet. Catch the bottle-feeding sessions throughout each day and enjoy petting some of the animals. Other cute activities include milking ‘cyber cow’ Clarabelle and going on pony rides across the park.

Aside from the animals at Dairyland, there’s a host of rides for the kids, as well as play areas – which include a 12,000sq ft undercover area with drop slides, ball pools, soft play and climbing nets – and a regular roster of entertaining events. And then there’s the thrilling go-kart track and even a tractor ride for all the family on the park’s nature trails. Plus, you’ve got to visit the Bug Zone. The name speaks for itself…

For grub, try the Snack Bar or Clarabelle’s Kitchen. And for history, pop into the Cornish Heritage Centre, which serves up a slice of life from the county’s past. Finish one of the best hands-on days out for children and families in Cornwall with a visit to the gift shop for fudge and souvenirs. You can buy them and take them home with you. Sadly you can’t take any of those cute meerkats home with you, though.
