There are a handful of excellent breweries across Cornwall but the Padstow Brewing Company has to be up there with the best. This is an award-winning independent microbrewery that creates some of the finest hand-crafted beers in the county.

The brewery, which lies in Padstow’s Trecerus Industrial Estate, was established in 2013 and it has since created superb beers like the Padstow Pilsner, the Padstow Windjammer, the Pocket Rocket and The Smoke. The expert brewers, who source their malt from the oldest floor malting house in the country, Warminster Maltings outside Bath, also make some scrummy cider and the team sells a range of mini-kegs and gift packages for happy customers.

The best way to experience the Padstow Brewing Company is to take a tour, which are £25 a head from May 2022. You get to see how the plant operates as the brewers take you around. There are, of course, tastings to be had and you’ll learn a ton about the cracking bevvies created on the site as well as the beer brewing process in general.

As a more relaxed alternative, though, the Padstow Brewing Company also runs the Tasting Room on Broad Street in the centre of the town. All the artisan beers and cider are on tap, as well as beer cocktails, and it’s worth planning a few hours and purchasing a tasting flight to get the best out of this laidback spot. There’s also the team’s Tasting Room on Duke Street that’s set inside an old post office which is recommended, particularly for the charcuterie and cheese options that can accompany the ale. And then there’s also an online store that’s been doing decent business and has plenty of homegrown tipples for sale. Cheers!
